Marketplace and liability disclaimer

Hometown Bid supplies software tools that help local people create listings and record bids. The buyer and seller—not Hometown Bid—complete the transaction.

Effective date: August 24, 2026

We are not a party to the item sale

Hometown Bid does not own, possess, inspect, authenticate, appraise, insure, transport, store, deliver, or warrant listed items. We do not act as the buyer’s or seller’s agent and do not guarantee that either party will complete the transaction.

Payment and pickup

Hometown Bid does not collect, hold, process, or guarantee the purchase price of auctioned goods. The winning bidder and seller arrange payment, taxes, title or ownership transfer, pickup, shipping, and any inspection directly.

Seller statements

Descriptions, photos, condition reports, ownership claims, and other listing information come from the seller. Buyers should ask questions, inspect when practical, confirm legal ownership, and use sound judgment before paying or taking possession.

Personal safety

Meet in a safe public location when appropriate, tell another person where you are going, avoid carrying unnecessary cash, and do not proceed when circumstances appear suspicious. Each user remains responsible for personal safety and compliance with applicable law.

Disputes

Item condition, nonpayment, nonperformance, pickup, title, ownership, fraud, and similar transaction disputes are primarily between buyer and seller. Hometown Bid may preserve platform records, restrict accounts, or cooperate with lawful requests, but does not guarantee recovery or resolution.
